Invisalign Teen™

No teenager looks forward to braces. They are awkward, uncomfortable, and an eyesore at a time in your life when appearance is very important. However, reluctance to wear braces should not prevent your teenager from receiving essential orthodontic care necessary for maintaining good oral health.

Fortunately, there is now a new option for teenagers requiring orthodontic treatment to correct malocclusion issues. Invisalign, a clear braces treatment option for adults, now makes a version geared for teenagers. It is called Invisalign Teen.

Invisalign Teen provides teenagers with an effective method for treating their orthodontic issues that helps them maintain their self esteem and self confidence. It works similarly to the adult version of Invisalign. A series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners will gradually move your teenager’s teeth into proper alignment.

Denver orthodontist Dr. Robert Rudman will take impressions of your teenager’s teeth. A series of customized aligners will then be created from the impressions using 3D technology to map out the course of treatment. The aligners can be removed during eating, brushing, flossing, athletics, and special occasions. However, to receive maximum benefit from the treatment, your child should wear the aligners for approximately 20-22 hours a day.

The Invisalign Teen system includes some additional features not present on the adult version, such as a Blue Dot Wear Indicator which fades when your aligner is ready to be changed and Eruption Tabs to accommodate the growth of second molars. It is an excellent option to treat:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Widely spaced teeth
  • Overbites
  • Crossbites
  • Underbites

At your initial consultation, Dr. Rudman will inform you as to whether Invisalign Teen is the right treatment for your teenager.
