Whether you’re in middle school or attending a university, going back to school with any of the various types of braces may be causing you some anxiety. You may be feeling self-conscious, and you may be uncomfortable with other students seeing you in braces for the first time. These feelings are probably experienced by just about anyone who wears braces. Most likely, you will feel more comfortable with your braces in a few days. Here are some tips for going back to school with braces:
- Picture the end result: Remember that at the end of your treatment, you will have a beautiful, straight smile.
- Realize you are not alone: Other students will have braces as well, and many others have worn braces in the past or will in the future.
- Bring an orthodontic care kit: Bring a toothbrush along so you can brush after lunch. If you don’t want to brush your teeth at school, you can brush as soon as you get home. Your kit could also include dental wax to address irritation caused by any of the parts of the braces.
You can also accessorize your braces by asking our dentist about rubber bands of different colors. If you live in Denver, Colorado and want to learn more about living with braces from our experienced dentist, please contact Cherry Creek Orthodontics to schedule a consultation.
