In recent years, an increasing number of adults have been seeking out orthodontic treatment to straight crooked teeth, correct their bite, and improve the overall appearance of their smile. For many adults, traditional metal braces are not an appealing option because of the way they look, and how intrusive and impractical they can be. Thankfully, today’s adult braces options are more varied and convenient than ever before. Our experienced Cherry Creek orthodontist Dr. Rudman offers the following types of braces for adults:

If you have avoided getting braces in the past because of the way they look, Incognito™ Hidden Braces may be the ideal solution for you. Incognito™ braces are fitted to the backside of your teeth instead of the front, making them completely invisible when you smile. Incognito™ Hidden Braces work similar to conventional braces, using brackets and wires to move your teeth into their ideal position. Dr. Rudman uses digital prototyping technology and CAD/CAM software to engineer custom brackets and wires made of a strong gold alloy.
If you’ve avoided orthodontic treatment in the past because you don’t like the idea of wearing traditional metal braces, Invisalign® might be the ideal solution for you. Instead of brackets and wires, Invisalign® uses clear plastic teeth aligners to straighten your teeth. The aligners are custom-fit, optically clear, and designed to look virtually unnoticeable while you are wearing them. Best of all, the Invisalign® aligners can be removed whenever you need to eat or brush your teeth, making them more convenient than traditional braces.
If you have braces, chances are that you've run into a couple of issues along the way. Most are not orthodontic emergencies, and you can apply home remedies to solve the problem until you can get in for an office visit.
Sore teeth and mouth
It is common when you first get your braces or as your teeth begin to shift during treatment that you will feel some aches. These usually pass relatively quickly, but you can try eating soft foods and taking an over-the-counter non-aspirin pain reliever if necessary.
Improper alignment of your teeth and malocclusion (bad bite) can lead to jaw pain or TMJ (Temporomandibular joint disorders). Using braces to correct the issues that cause your jaw pain will alleviate the underlying problems and your jaw pain.
At Advanced Orthodontic Care, Dr. Robert Rudman will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and bite in order to recommend the best treatment. Braces are recommended for children, teens, and adults who suffer from alignment or bite issues, such as:

Frederick Churbuck, a patient of Denver orthodontist Dr. Robert Rudman, is the first U.S. resident to complete orthodontic treatment with AcceleDent; using the small device designed to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement, Mr. Churbuck was able to have his braces removed after about nine months of treatment instead of the 18 months initially predicted.
“My teeth are beautiful, and in nine months,” Mr. Churbuck said of AcceleDent treatment. “It feels too good to be true.”
Congratulations! You have completed your orthodontic treatment and are preparing to get your braces off. This day has been a long time coming and you want to make sure you are prepared. What Your Teeth Will Look Like
Braces place pressure on your teeth to stretch surrounding periodontal membrane on one side of a tooth and compress it on the other, a process which loosens targeted teeth. Once a tooth is loosened with braces, bone grows around it in a process known as bone remodeling to provide support. Bone remodeling can take months or even years with braces alone, but is necessary to ensure straight teeth.
