What is Orthognathic Surgery?

Also known as corrective jaw surgery, orthognathic surgery corrects certain bite problems and crooked teeth, if those issues are caused by underlying jaw misalignment. Dr. Robert Rudman may recommend jaw surgery before or after you wear braces, if there are certain underlying issues related to bone structure. Once the jaw bones are resituated, the teeth are better able to fit together.
